Oh boy here we go…Let’s talk about these sweaty boys…
Far too often we’ve gotten calls about a computer running slowly, a modern machine with at least 8Gb RAM, Quad Core CPU, SSD?!? But still it runs like a dog… the culprit… ANTIVIRUS.
I’m not saying an antivirus is bad, far from it. Antivirus is important for protection in an increasingly dangerous world where threats to even your identity exist on every corner, but here’s the thing. If you are running any modern and updated version of Windows and you aren’t searching for “specialist” material in the seedier places of the web (see Limewire and Bearshare!), then the built in AV is both serviceable and lightweight!
Of course, if you do happen to catch a computer cold that Windows doesn’t pick up, then do install a third party AV and use their virus definitions to try and clear the issue. Be make sure to carry out the usual security measures (check bank accounts, change passwords, notify credit agencies etc etc), if you suspect personal info may have been compromised.
