It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post and even more so since AMD were competitive in the GPU space but that has all changed! Recent events show the RX 6700XT and RX 6800XT are performing at or just below the equivalent NVIDIA RTX card for as little as HALF the price.
The new gaming king? We think so!
Let that sink in a little bit… For £450 you can get 4k, 60fps gaming at ultra settings. Add in a Ryzen 5000 CPU and boost it even further. Whats the secret sauce? A free overclocking tool called Hydra unlocking oodles of performance from cards putting them a category above their stock speeds for next to no additional power draw!
So where does that leave us. I’ve configured a build below which I think would be the best bang for the buck situation to leverage an RX6700XT. Want to go the whole hog? Add £200 to the build and you’ve got an absolute top tier machine without going Intel 13th gen and spending a LOT more money, especially as the Ryzen 5600G is an absolute steal at the time of writing.
Not only is this a POWERHOUSE of a machine, the cost at £1250 is comparatively cheap compared to recent times. Thank those above for the crypto crash and new GPUs being available on the open market. While I appreciate a new PC may not be top of the list for most people, if you are considering something new, you you wont find better at the moment, especially as this machine should last 5-6 years without needing an upgrade, so consider that at £250 a year maxiumum.
